I had it done by a really reputable doctor. He wasn't a "lasik" center. he was a general specialist. He treated all kind of eye problems, from cataracts to debris removal. So he wasn't just farming it out.
I really loved it, it was quick, easy and pretty much painless. There's irritation afterwards, and you ahve to be really careful not to rub your eyes. And yes, your prescription has to have stabalized for at least 6 months.
The most common problem is that if they don't reshape enough of your cornea, when your pupils dialate all the way at night, you'll get "halos" around lights. This is the outside of the pupil partially seeing through uncorrected lense. Most doctors with the most modern equipment will avoid this.
I was 20/20 afterwards, and I'm not sure if I still am. Occasionally I feel like I could use glasses, just for watching TV and stuff, or it could just be that since I wore glasses since I was in teh third grade and I have a fairly small tv that I'm just over sensitive.
Regardless, I'd go though it again in an instant. No contacts, I can roll over at night and see my alarm clock without fumbling for glasses, it's great. So find yourself a good doctor and stop waiting!
(my uncle has had it done, and loves it, and my dad and stepmom are just waiting till they have the money, and they both want to do it as well) |
